A Minimally-Invasive Option For Spinal Stenosis
Experienced Spine Surgeon
If you have been diagnosed with spinal stenosis, micro-endoscopic decompression (MED) could be the ideal treatment for you. This procedure is minimally-invasive, meaning the risk of infection is minimized and patients usually recover from the surgery quickly.
At Biscup Spine, Dr. Robert S. Biscup performs MED and a variety of other spinal procedures. He personally works with all of our patients, making himself available to you when you need him. After assessing your condition, we can help you find the ideal treatment for your back pain.
MED vs Micro-Decompression Laminaplasty
MED is a very similar procedure to micro-decompression laminaplasty in that both procedures involve re-shaping the back of the spine to relieve pressure on the nerves and remove abnormal tissue and bone.
In MED, a surgeon must use an endoscope to perform the procedure, which can only produce a two-dimensional image, whereas the microscope in micro-decompression laminaplasty creates a three-dimensional image. Both of these methods are effective, and which one is the best choice for your back pain treatment depends on the preferences of the surgeon and the patient.
